Terms of Service

By using WattPal ("the Service") at wattpal.net, you agree to these Terms of Service. Please read them carefully.
1. The Service
WattPal analyzes your SmartMeter Texas electricity usage data against available fixed-rate plans on PowerToChoose.org and ranks them by estimated cost. Results are provided as a one-time analysis for a $2.99 fee.
2. Results are estimates, not advice
All cost figures produced by WattPal are estimates based on historical usage data and published plan rates. Actual electricity bills may differ due to:
- Changes in TDU (transmission and distribution utility) pass-through charges
- Changes in your usage patterns or household size
- Rate changes permitted by the plan's terms (e.g., TDU pass-through adjustments)
- Billing cycles that do not align with calendar months
- Taxes, fees, and surcharges not reflected in published plan rates
WattPal results are for informational purposes only and do not constitute financial, energy, or legal advice. Always verify plan details directly with the provider's Electricity Facts Label (EFL) before enrolling.
3. No affiliation with providers
WattPal is an independent analysis tool. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or compensated by any electricity provider, retail electric provider (REP), or PowerToChoose.org. Plan data is sourced from the publicly available PowerToChoose export CSV.
4. Payment and refunds
The $2.99 analysis fee is a one-time charge with no subscription. Payment is processed by Stripe. Because analysis results are delivered immediately upon payment, all sales are final and non-refundable. If you experience a technical failure that prevents you from viewing your results, contact info@wattpal.net and we will resolve it.
5. Your data
By uploading your SmartMeter Texas CSV, you represent that you are authorized to share this data and grant WattPal a limited license to process it solely for the purpose of generating your analysis. See our Privacy Policy for full details on data retention and deletion.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Scrape, automate, or bulk-query the Service
- Upload files that are not genuine SmartMeter Texas exports
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, circumvent, or exploit the Service
- Use the Service in any way that violates applicable law
7. Disclaimer of warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WATTPAL DOES NOT WARRANT THAT RESULTS WILL BE ACCURATE, COMPLETE, OR FIT FOR ANY PARTICULAR PURPOSE. YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE IS AT YOUR OWN RISK.
8. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WATTPAL SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO COSTS OF SWITCHING ELECTRICITY PLANS, EARLY TERMINATION FEES, OR BILLING DIFFERENCES. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE SERVICE ($2.99).
9. Changes to the Service and Terms
We may modify the Service or these Terms at any time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms. Material changes will be noted with an updated effective date.
10. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to conflict of law principles.
